Married: Phoebe Ducker on 5 May 1870. She was the daughter of Abraham Ducker and Deborah Lawyer.
Charles co-owned a saw mill in Lynn Township, Hardin County, Ohio.

They had the following children:

2) Enclerise Canaan born 29 May 1872
3) Louisa CANAAN born 1871 or 1874*
4) Evaline or Evalena CANAAN b: 1871 died 26 May 1925, but they moved her and changed the date on the new tombstone to 1926.
Evaline married John Peter Gosche on 27 Feb 1889 Hardin Co. Marriage Book 8, Page 346 . They had 6 children. When Phoebe (Ducker) Canaan died, they were living in Alberta, Canada.

Charles Canaan enlisted in the Union army in 1862: Company B, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Fought in battles of Moss Creek, East TN, Pearch, Resaca, Peach Tree and Nashville, and also fought at Fort Fisher. He was at the grand review in Washington, and was mustered out at Columbus, OH, June 11, 1865.
