History - Sally and James heard the gospel from the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were converted.

In 1842, they moved to Nauvoo to become acquainted with the other Saints. The journey took one month. They would camp along the way sometimes staying in Inns along the way.

They were anxious to go West. to the Rocky Mountains. In the spring, Sally, James and their family began their trek westward. While they were crossing the Mississippi River, their son, James, died. They traveled with the Daniel Spencer/Perrigrine Sessions Company, and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley, 25 September 1847. They remained in the Salt Lake area until the Springtime when they were assigned to go to Centerville, Davis County, Utah, and help with farming.

Sally's husband accepted the doctrine of plural marriage and took a second and third wife. In all, twenty-five children were born to James and his three wives. They lived in Centerville fifteen years.

They were called to go to Southern Utah to star the farming of cotton, grapes and sorghum in Santa Clara and St. George. In 1863, they were called to settle the "Muddy" in Nevada. From there they went to Glendale, Kane County, Utah. James died when he was only fifty-nine years old. The older sons took the responsibility of their mothers. Sally Ann went to Wayne County with Levi.

Sally Ann died 8 February 1895. Sally was a twin sister to Eliza Ann Snyder and was never very strong, but everyone loved her. - Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Women and Faith & Fortitude
