JOHN CHARLES MILLAR , 66, principal at Talbott Elementary School in Widefield for 22 years, died Dec. 28, 1993, at his home in Security. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1201 Leta Drive, Security, with the Rev. William Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1001 S. Hancock Ave. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. U.S. Highway 85/87, Fountain. Mr. Millar was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Martin, S.D., to George and Beulah (Wilhelm) Millar . His mother survives and lives in Martin. He received a bachelor's degree from Chadron State Teachers College in Nebraska and a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He had lived in Holly before moving to Security in 1962. After serving as principal at Talbott, Mr. Millar was a real estate agent for Merit Realty. He also was a member of the Security Lions Club, the El Paso County Park Advisory Board, Security Park and Recreation Board, Methodist Men and Gideons and a trustee at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. He also worked with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Millar was married Dec. 21, 1952, in Sterling to Frances Marilyn Rice, who survives. He also is survived by four daughters, Mary Lynne Ketcham of Dallas, Gail Farrell of Colorado Springs, Jeanette Millar of Security, and Jann Millar of Colorado Springs; five brothers, Allen of McCook, Neb., Ward of Rapid City, S.D., Lawrence of Kalamazoo, Mich., Arnold of Martin, and Dan of Worden, Mont.; a sister, Beulah Millar of Lakewood; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Gerald, and a brother, Howard. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1201 Leta Drive, Security 80911.
