Violet was the oldest of nine children born to Della and Jennie Greenwood. She grew up in Saco, Maine and graduated from Thornton Academy.
She married William Spulick in 1926 and the couple moved to Connecticut shortly after their marriage. They eventually returned to Maine, where they lived out the rest of their lives. Violet was killed by an automobile while crossing the street, shortly after the death of her husband.
