Ouida Purvis Still, 84, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in a local hospital.
Ouida was born July 4, 1924 in Meridian, MS to James Ludwig Purvis, Sr. and Pearl Clarice Cage. Ouida graduated from Meridian High School in 1941 in the same class as her future husband, Medie T. Still, Jr. She attended Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics and a minor in Education. She was a member of the Pensacola Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution.
Ouida was a longtime active member of the Pensacola Women's Club where she served twice as President, as well as serving in several State offices. She also enjoyed her membership in The Morning Book Club.
Ouida is survived by her husband of 61 years, Medie T. Still, Jr.; her son, Medie T. Still, III (Barbara); his children, Medie T. Still, IV and Rebecca Leigh Still all of Rincon, GA; her daughter, Pamela Still Stephens (Perry); and her son, Christopher Leslie Williams all of Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Julian Vaughan Purvis of Meridian, MS.
Memorial Service will be held 10:00am Saturday, March 21, 2009 at McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rob Looper officiating. Burial will take place at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Clark, George Fell, Herb Frashuer, Ray Myers, Pete DeVries and Phil Vaughn.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caring people with Covenant Hospice.
