SHELBY Mr. Henry Estel Rainey, 89, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at home.
Born in Madison County, he was a son of the late Henry Huston Rainey and Ella Rainey. He retired from Shelby Mills. He then moved to Lake Lure and owned and operated Lake Lure Grocery before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. He also served on the Lake Lure Town Council for 10 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, W.J. Rainey and Charlie Rainey; and a sister, Evelyn R. Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife, Etrulia Toots D. Rainey of the home; a daughter and her husband, Jean R. and Dean D. McDaniel of Shelby; two granddaughters, Sherry H. Hill and husband, Otha Hill, of Lexington and Tracy Haynes and her friend, Scott Reynolds, of Charlotte; and a great-grandson, Cameron Hill of Lexington.
Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
