"News Herald March 21, 1929
Mrs. Amelia Rote, age 72 years, widow of the late Scott R. Rote, died in her home at Maple Shade at 2:30 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Rote was born in Cranberry township on Sept. 28, 1858, a daughter of Jacob and Fannie Miller Ziegler, and had spent practically her entire life at Maple Shade. She was a faithful member of Va Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. She was a devolted wife and mother, and a kind neigbor and she will be sadly missed in the community.
Surviving are the following children: Frank H. and Clifford S. Rote and Mrs. F. W. Stewart and Mrs. C. O. Pryor of Cranberry; Mrs. Charles Hogue of Bradford; and Mrs. C. C. Schreffler of Oil City. One sister, Miss Zelda Ziegler of Franklin also survives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. M. R. Marshall, pastor of the Van M. E. Church officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Zion Cemetery."
