Dr. Arthur M. Gates, 78, Coalport, died unexpectedly July 17, 1960, at the home of a son, Dr. Lionel Gates, Shamokin, Pa. Born June 23, 1882, in Coalport, son of Perry C. and Semanda (Hoy) Gates. Survived by widow, former Frances DeSales Buck, and these children: Dr. Lionel, mentioned, Mrs. Mary G. Conners, Wynnewood, Mrs. Frances Fisher, Coalport, and Dr. Robert P., Pittsburgh. Also 16 grandchildren. Practicing dentist in Coalport for 53 years. Member of Coalport school board for 46 years and Beccaria-Coalport-Irvona School Board for 11 years. Friends received Tuesday evening at the late home where service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment, Beaver Valley Cemetery.
