Syosset community lost another valued resident early this (Friday) morning, when Mrs. Martha Jane, widow of Albert Cheshire, passed away at the advanced age of 78 years. She had been ailing for some time. Her death came at 4:30 o'clock.
She was born at Manetto Hill on Jannuary 15, 1846, and was the daughter of Caleb and Mary Van Sise. She attended the local schools.
Mr and Mrs Cheshire were married fifty-five years ago and she has always lived since in the home in which she died. She was a member of the Woodbury Methodist Episcopal Church.
Her husband died six months ago to the day.
Mrs Cheshire is survived by seven sons- George S Cheshire and Camillus R Cheshire of Brooklyn; John R and Raymond E Cheshire, of Syosset; Samuel T Cheshire, of Huntington and Austin C and Leslie G Cheshire of Hempstead. One sister, Mrs Thorne Davis, of Syosset, also survives.
The funeral services will be held at the late home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with interment in the Jones Memorial Cemetery.
