Herman (and Caroline) Ehrich became members of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church one week after the church was chartered in 1884. They granted a piece of their farmland across the road from the first church. This church was dedicated in 1897.

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Ehrich, who died on Monday, May 11th at the home of her son, William Ehrich, in Elmore Township, was held last Thursday afternoon, May 14th, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. M.C.A. Mueller officiating. Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery.
Death was due to cancer of the liver and at the time of her death she was 83 years and 23 days.
Caroline Emma Ehrich was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fiene, and was born April 18, 1859 at Addison, Ill. She was baptized May 15, 1859 in Zion Lutheran Church, Addison, Ill., and was confirmed on April 6, 1873 by the Rev. A. Franke.
She was married to Herman Ehrich on Feb. 14, 1884 at Addison, Ill., by Rev. T.J. Grosse. Shortly after their marriage they came to Minnesota and located on a farm in Elmore Township. Here they resided until 1923 when they moved to Blue Earth. Mr. Ehrich passed away on Jan. 11, 1938 and in April of the same year she made her home with her son William in Elmore Township where she passed away.
The deceased was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. She leaves to mourn her departure five children: Mrs. Theo Sohn of Blue Earth and four sons - Alfred, William, Albert and Robert. Also 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a brother Henry Fiene, Lombard, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Haase of LaGrange, Ill., and Mrs. Marie Grimmelman of Elmore.
