Clara Lenora Opland was born at home on September 18, 1910, to Amanda Svensen and Peter Christensen Opland. Lenora, as she was called, was born in Calumet, MI. When Lenora was 3 years old her mother died.

Lenora's siblings were Jenny, who died in childbirth; Lillian, Carl, Henry Arnold, Robert Wilford, Florence May, and Mildred Amanda.

Lenora met Ted Kugler through a friend, Olga, at the German Club in Pontiac, Michigan. They dated for two years and then married on May 19, 1934, at Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church, 26 Mariva Street, Pontiac, (Oakland County) Michigan. They had no children.

Lenora worked for Pontiac Motors doing office work. She later worked at Waite's Department store in Pontiac, Michigan, until she got married. They lived at 29 Cochrane Place in Pontiac until they both died.

Lenora died at North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac on February 17, 1997, at age 86, due to congestive heart failure. Her wishes were to be cremated and have no funeral service or memorial. Her ashes are buried next to her husband, Ted, at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, (Oakland County) Michigan.
