Arthur is my mother's uncle and, of course, the brother of her father Archie. Arthur was a great guy and a wonderful story teller. He had a happy wit about him and he loved to kid around.

Obiturary from the April 16, 2009 Rochester, MN Post Bulletin:
The funeral service for Arthur Parkin will be Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Parkin, 98, of Rochester, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital.

Arthur Raymond Parkin was born February 9, 1911 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Alzada (Bartholomew) Parkin. He attended Pine Island Schools. He married Florence L. Campbell in Berne, MN on March 5, 1933. Arthur and Florence farmed from 1933 until 1960 in the Berne area. He retired from Mayo Clinic in 1975 in security. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, golfing, reading, western movies and listening to music.

Arthur is survived by four children, Edward (Sharon) of Hastings, MN, Ronald (Naomi) of Milford, MA, Robert (Rusty) of Alexandria, MN and Ken (Cheryl) of Byron, MN; his daughter-in-law, Loraine Parkin of El Cajon, CA; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd (Beulah) Parkin of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 2008; 2 daughters, Beverly Grafing and Ruth Parkin; a son Edwin Parkin; two brothers; and two sisters.

A visitation will be from noon till the time of the service on Saturday at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.

Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Bethany Foundation.
