Mrs. Lucia Kate Keasler Acker, 88, of 129 Glassy Mountain Street, and widow of
Butler Dixon Acker, died Friday, February 10, 2006, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Acker was born in the Shady Grove Community of Pickens County, a daughter
of the late George W. and Lillie Murphree Keasler. She was a graduate of the
Tamassee D.A.R. School, and was a member, Deacon, Circle Chairman and Sunday
School Teacher of Pickens Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Acker was very active in the
community, having served as president of the Better Home and Garden Club,
officer of the Pickens Womens Club, a co-founder of the Brownie Scout and Cub
Scout programs in Pickens, served on the Steering Committee for building the
present Cannon Memorial Hospital facility. She was an avid golfer, having won
many awards.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth D. Acker and his wife Judy of Pickens; daughters,
Joyce A. Massingill and her husband William of Easley and Anne A. Childs and her
husband Dr. James Childs of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters.

Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pickens Presbyterian Church,
with Rev. J.S. Randoph Harris officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the services in the All
Saints Hall of the church.

A private committal service, with Mrs. Acker's grandsons serving as pallbearers
will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Pickens Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box
834, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family will be at their respective homes.

Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown is assisting the family with arrangements.
