Sarah "Sallie" Docie Martin Fisher was the daughter of Sampson Martin and his wife Nancy. It is believed that Nancy was Nancy Bybee, the daughter of Joseph Bybee, a Methodist minister. Sarah was listed on the 1870 Warren County census in the household of Sampson Martin (22) and his wife Nancy (24). She was an infant. In 1880, Sallie was 11 and was listed in the household of S.S. Martin (32) and his wife J.A.(22) in Warren County. (Evidently Sallie's mother died between 1870 and 1880.)

Sallie married James Monroe Fisher, and they had four children. They were William Ambrose, Lester Sampson, Thomas Curry, and Robie Lee. Her one daughter, Robie Lee, died as a baby and is also buried at Bybee's Chapel Cemetery.
