WAPAKONETA - Harry L. Carter, 72, was dead on arrival at Lima Memorial Hospital at 11:40 a.m. Sunday.

Born Dec. 13, 1903 in Allen County, he was a son of Elwood and Anna Marie Witte Carter. He was married Dec. 24, 1924, to Adna Whipp, who died Jan. 31, 1939.

Surviving are a son, Frederick of Rt. 6, Wapakoneta; five daughters, Mrs. David (Betty) Norbeck of 115 S. Scott, Lima, Mrs. Milo (Dorothy) Miller of Harrod, Mrs. John (Lillian) Hawk of Rt. 1, Lafayette, Mrs. Donald (Anna) Gockley of Lima and Mrs. Clifford (Louise) Parlette of Uniopolis, 36 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was owner-operator of Carter Junk Yard in Wapakoneta and attended the First Church of Christ Scientist, Lima. He also was a member of the Greenville Old Time Threshers Association.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, Everett Dahlke, leader. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the First Church of Christ Scientist.
