Mina "Minnie" (nee Wulff) Olmsted made a career out of feeding legislators and Oregon State Fair goers. She died on January 24, 1962 in a Salem Oregon nursing home at the age of 89.

Her first husband was D. D. Olmsted. Mina was born in Germany and immigrated to America with her parents and siblings arriving in New York, New York on November 25, 1881 from Hamburg, Germany aboard the ship "Silesia".

Mrs. Olmsted emigrated from Michigan to Salem, Oregon in 1893. She operated the main restaurant at the Oregon State Fair for many years in it's old location near the floral displays. And she ran a restaurant in the basement of the the old Capitol during legislative sessions only. There was year round restaurant in the Capitol in those days.

"Mrs. Olmsted's Restaurant" was a big attraction at the fair, and in the late 1950's chairs still marked with her name were spotted in use at the racetrack there.

Her first husband, with a brother Colonel Olmsted, started the first laundry in Salem and possibly the first on the coast North of San Francisco. The Olmsted's Salem Laundry Company on downtown Commercial Street in Salem was still in existence at the time of her death in 1962 under different ownership on downtown High Street.

Mr. Olmsted died about 20 years before his wife and Minnie married Realtor David D. Socolofsky. He died in 1957.

Mrs. Socolofsky several years before her death was made an honorary life-time member of Salem Women's Club. She was also a member of Neighbors of Woodcraft and First Christian Church.

When she passed away she left one daughter, Mrs. John Waters, one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert H. Hamilton, and two great-grandchildren, 17 year old twins Barbara and Bob Hamilton, all of Salem, Oregon. Services were held at 1:30 PM January 26, 1962 in Mount Crest Abby Mausoleum in Salem, Oregon. Virgil T. Golden Mortuary was in charge.
