Former Anchorage resident Chris Vincent Kincheloe, 37, died Aug. 6, 2003, as a result of a vehicle accident in Deerfield, Mo. Burial took place during a graveside service at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Mission Woods Church in Milton, Wash.

Mr. Kincheloe was born Sept. 12, 1965, in Berkeley, Calif. He graduated from Chugiak High School in Anchorage in 1983 and delivered the valedictory address. He received a scholarship to attend college. Mr. Kincheloe started at the University of Arizona, where he wanted to play baseball as a left-handed pitcher, and then moved to Washington State University in Pullman. He later decided that he could not play baseball and obtain the education he desired. He transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle, where he earned an economics degree. While on ski patrol at Alpental, two doctors convinced him to pursue becoming a doctor. "Chris' younger brother was killed in Alaska in 1980 and, as a result, Chris had a desire to become a trauma center doctor," his family said. "The encouragement from the doctors was enough to send Chris back to school taking pre-med, maintaining a 3.7 grade point average for three years. "Chris would have made a great doctor, as he was very good with his hands. He rebuilt several sailboats and built a drift boat. He went to work for Merrill Lynch as a broker, and after five years, he left and became a day trader. Chris was planning to go back to school to earn his Ph.D. in economics, day trade, write a book on the stock market and fly-fish. "Chris was an avid outdoors person, fly-fisherman, skier, snowboarder and hiker. He had climbed Mount Rainier twice. Chris was always the first person to help anyone in need." Mr. Kincheloe was preceded in death by his brother, David Wayne Kincheloe; mother, Veda Dorothea Gebauer; grandparents, Dorothea Ann Gebauer and the Rev. Egon Gebauer, and Bernice and Lewis Kincheloe.

He is survived by his aunts, Hestia Bridges, Kathy Gebauer and JoAnn Price; uncles, Eaton Gebauer, Donald Bridges and Donald Price; half-sisters, Kelly Flynn and Sheryl Wayne; stepsister, Pam Cady; stepbrother, Rod Bloyer; and six cousins. Arrangements were by Witzleben's Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
