LAST MEXICAN
WAR VET DIES
Henry Galloway, last of the line of
veterans of the Mexican war residing
in Cass county, died yesterday
shortly after noon at the residence of
his son, George Galloway, city fireman,
No. 11 McCarty street, after having
passed his ninety-fourth birthday
anniversary.
Deceased had an interesting history.
He was born near Greentown. Ind.,
and when nine years of age, was kidnapped
by a band of Indians and,
brought to this county. For several
years he lived here with the Indians
who roamed up and down the Wabash.

dians and returned to his home. In
the course of time he became homesick
for the scenes of his experiences
with the Indians, returned to this vicinity,
and has remained here ever since.
Henry Galloway was the father of
twelve children, four of whom survive—
George, Henry and Flora Galloway,
and Mrs. Mary Holt. The father
of deceased lived to the age of 103.
