Kenneth D. Antonini, 64, Keystone Section of Plains Township, passed away July 5, 2008, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
"Kenny" was born December 3, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was the son of the late Gaudenzi " Daniel" and Angela Buccari Antonini.
He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Wilkes University with a B.S. degree in secondary education and biology and general science. He attended Florida State University. He received a master's degree from Temple University, Philadelphia.
Ken retired from the Wilkes-Barre School District after 30 years of teaching science and biology. He was a wonderful and devoted teacher. He also was formerly employed as a teacher for Plains Memorial High School, as well as Luzerne County Community College. Kenneth was a avid traveler and lover of nature. His joy of life was his family and friends. He was a member of P.S.E.A and N.E.A.
He was preceded in death by his brother Donald.
Surviving are his loving children, David Antonini and his wife Allison, Pearland, Texas; Gregory Antonini and his wife Amy, Pleasanton, Calif., and Jane Loftus and her husband, William, Trucksville; three grandchildren, Marcus and Max Antonini; and Alyssa Loftus; nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15a.m. from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in Holy Name/St. Mary's Church, Shoemaker Street, Swoyersville, with the Rev. Louis Grippe as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Lithuanian Catholic Cemetery, West Wyoming.
