Charleston - James Anderson, 76 years old, former farmer and banker at Charleston, died at his home in Cape Girardeau, at 10 a.m. today of cancer of the throat. He had been confined to his home six weeks.
The body will remain at the residence until 11:30 o'clock Sunday morning, when it will be taken to Charleston for funeral services at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. This will be conducted by the pastor. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Charleston.
Mr. Anderson was born in Hardin County, Ky., Nov. 26, 1858, and was married in Louisville to Miss Ada V. Allenfield. She died in 1919 (her stone states 1921).
Thirty-three years ago he moved to a farm near Charleston and later became connected with the People's Bank of Charleston. He was married in 1925 to Mrs. Snipes, and five years ago the family moved to Cape Girardeau. For a short time he operated the Eat Shop.
Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Jamie Azalee, of the home address, an adopted son, Urcil Anderson, a brother, Luke Anderson of Charleston, and two sisters, Mrs Betty Grant of Detroit and Mrs. Lilly French of Advance.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston and served on the board of deacons.
