Margaret had a twin sister, Catherine "Katie" Wagner. They were born on April 17, 1873, in Jay County, Indiana. Katie married Joe Nomina and lived in Ft. Wayne

Margaret's Father Nicholas was a well-digger so the family moved around quite a bit. Shortly before her and her sister's births the family is listed in 1870 in Franklin Twp. DeKalb County Indiana.

In the 1880 census, Margaret is living with her Grandfather Peter Wagner, and his second wife Margret Lucius. In this record, she is mistakenly referred to as a Niece, instead of a Grandaughter. (Because Nicholas's Half-sister, Mary Barbara Wagner was the one giving the info). Her sister "Katie" Is living in the home of John B. and Mary Poiry and is listed as an adopted daughter.
