Lucy Betty Hetzer

Lucy Betty Hetzer, 82, of Georgetown, entered into rest on January 6, 2010 in a local care center. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Joe Cariker will officiate at the funeral service at 10:00 am on Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown.

She was born Lucy Betty Peters on November 1, 1927 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to immigrant German parents; Carl and Betty (Kruse) Peters. She was one of ten children in her family. Lucy grew up and graduated from high school in Buenos Aires.

She met and married Jakob Hetzer on March 6, 1954. The couple had one son Bill born in 1957. On December 22, 1963 the family immigrated to the United States. They lived in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1964 to 1992. Lucy worked as a bookbinder, Quality Control Technician for Kenner Toys, and as a sales associate at Lazarus Department Stores. She moved to Texas in December, 1992, living in north Austin and began working at the WalMart there until relocating to Georgetown and the Georgetown WalMart, where she worked in the Ladies Apparel Depatment until retiring in December 2008, after 15 years of service. Lucy was tri-lingual and spoke fluent English, Spanish, and German. She made many friends at WalMart and at Park Place, where she lived for the last six months.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and her husband, Jakob in 2005. She is survived by her son Bill, daughter in law Barbara, granddaughters Marissa Hetzer and Kelly Morgan, grandson in law Mathew Morgan, and great-grandchildren Avery and Parker Morgan.
