Frank and Zoe had three children. The eldest, daughter Gertrude Evelyn Ida Mae McKinley, was born 8 October 1897 in Dallas Co., IA and is last known to be living in Van Nuys, California in September 1953 when her father died; her name appears at that time as Mrs. Gertrude Patterson in her father's obituary. [The obituary appears in the Council Bluffs, Iowa Nonpareil September 22, 1953, pg. 6.] Their only son, Francis Paul McKinley, was born in 1905 in Canada and died in Nebraska in 1945 He is buried in Wahoo, Saunders County, NE near his mother. The 1920 census shows daughter Lola M. McKinley was born in Canada about 1909 and was living in Saunders County NE with Francis McKinley and Zoe and Ernest Haggard.
Frank, Zoe and daughter Gertrude left Iowa and moved to Canada in 1905 along with his older brother John, wife Mary and their three children. John moved his family back to America, settling initially in Creston, Iowa in 1910; they left there a few months later following the death of their only son and moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where Charles, the eldest of the three McKinley boys, had already settled. Frank and his family stayed in Canada a short while longer before returning to America; he too settled in Council Bluffs .
Frank's elder brother, John, is buried adjacent to him; and, his eldest brother, Charles, is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Council Bluffs, IA.
