George was married to Amanda Mills McGuigan until the time of her short life ended at the age of 47 years, 5 months. after her death he remarried to Mary Elizabeth Mark Fleagle on March 23, 1898.

AGED SHOEMAKER DIES IN MT. PLEASANT TOWNSHIP
Infirmities of old age caused the death Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock of George A. McGuigan, well known resident of Mt. Pleasant Township, near Bonneauville. He was aged 77 years, 3 months and 11 days.
He was born in Mt. Joy Township and for thirty years was a shoemaker in Harney, Maryland. Last March he moved from Harney to Mt. Pleasant Township, and resided with his son.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, H. A. McGuigan, Straban Township, George E., with whom he made his home, and Charles E. McGuigan, Mt. Joy Township, two daughters, Mrs. Annie B. Fleagle, Philadelphia, Mrs. Mary E. Hyser, Carroll County, MD, one brother, David McGuigan, Gettysburg, three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Angel, York, Mrs. Hannah Hess, Carrol County, MD, and Mrs. Katie Griffin, New York state.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Leslie K. Young, at the house Sunday at 9 am, with further services a Mt. Joy Lutheran Church at 10 o'clock.
Interment at Mt. Joy Cemetery.
