Anita F. Wilson, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, March 9, 2009.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Roger Smith of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Anita was born April 18, 1922, in Amarillo to Victor Asa and Gladys Agnes Burton. She married Henry M. Wilson Sept. 30, 1937, in Canyon and was happily married over 62 years before he preceded her in death in 2000.

Anita was a lifetime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Sunday school classes. She was a member of D.R.T.

She was involved with her family, friends and church including PTA, sewing, crafts and crocheting, especially baby blankets. She and Henry enjoyed fishing together in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a son-in-law, Bailey N. Thompson.

Survivors include a son, James Asa Wilson and wife Janet Sue of Amarillo; a daughter, Carolyn Marshall and husband Gary of Amarillo; a brother, Ernest L. Burton and wife Louise of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Asa James Wilson and wife Gina, Kevan Dale Wilson and wife Sindy, D'Dee Grove and husband Jim, Anita Benson and Bailey Tyler Thompson and wife Rosalinda; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special family member, Jackie Raleigh.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; and American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St., Suite B, Lubbock, TX 79423.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
