John E. Bartlett
OVERTON - Services for John E. Bartlett, 83, Overton, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in Pearson Funeral Home Chapel in Overton with the Rev. Richard Boone and the Rev, Dwight Dozier officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, in Smith County.
Mr. Bartlett died Monday in an Overton hospital following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 16, 1903 in Waynesville, Mo. He had lived in Overton the past 11 years, moving there from Arp. He was a member of the Baptist church. He retired 20 years ago as an engineer for Sinclair Oil Co., In Wright City after 30 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Bartlett, Overton; two sons, Raymond Bartlett and Jackie Bartlett, both of Crane; a stepson, Kenneth Kimbrell, Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Opal Shuttlesworth and Helen Davis, both of Arp; two stepdaughters, Shirley DeVillier, Henderson, and Pat Kimbrell, Lindale; seven brothers, Cecil Bartlett, Charles Bartlett, Marvin Bartlett, Dale Bartlett, and Kenneth Bartlett, all of Yale, Okla. Don Bartlett, Arkansas; and Bobby Bartlett, Hanibal, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Wheaton, Tulsa, Okla., Ina Ross, Yale, Okla., and Grace Perryman, Springfield, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kimbrell, Sam DeVillier, Billy Shuttlesworth, Michael Taylor, Tracy Cook, Dickey Shuttlesworth, Mike Davis, Johnnie Davis.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday
