If Mr. THORNTON is buried where the inscribed monument is located, the grave has to have been moved there from either the Old Cemetery section or Section 1. His grave is currently marked in Lot 45 (with PAGE on the threshold) of Section J in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 3. This lot takes in city lots 123, 124, 125 and 126 of Section C, which was not opened for burials until 1863. All four of these city lots were purchased on 03 SEP 1870 by Dr. D. W. APPLER for $25 each (resident rate).
