KENDALL STEPHON ALFORD Was born on March 7, 1991, to Kenneth, Sr. and Tammilita Alford at St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond, Indiana. Kendall was the youngest child out of three. Kendall accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of New Hope MB Church under Rev. Sieon Roberts, where he was a helpful part of the youth ministry. Kendall received his education through the Gary Community School Corporation and was a gifted and talented student at Banneker and Tolleston schools. Kendall was in his senior year at West Side High School and a member of the Cougar baseball team and involved in Competitive Edge at Purdue University for prospective engineers. Kendall excelled in sports in the Gary area and was involved in biddy-basketball, pop-warner football, and little league baseball teams. Kendall had a giving heart and his public service life was exemplary as a member of the Beta Mu Chapter of Kudos, a breast cancer awareness group for males, and unselfish helpful acts around New Hope MB Church. Kendall was an exceptional employee at Kmart and worked for the City of Gary in the summer employment program. Kendall was truly a friend and an endearing young man to all who knew him. Kendall left this life on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Methodist Hospital with his family by his side. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and made his acquaintance. Kendall will forever be cherished in memory by his parents, Kenneth, Sr. and Tammilita; one sister, Kenee' Alford of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Kenneth S. Alford, Jr. of Gary, India;a grandparents, Thomas A. Sr. and Gracie Shumpert of Gary, Indiana, Arthur W. (Andra) Davis of Merrillville, Indiana and Myrtle Davis of Gary, Indiana; one special nephew, Jonathan Alford of Nashville, Tennessee and one special niece, Jayla A. Kimbro of Nashville, Tennessee; godmother, Vanessa Dancy of Blackjack, Missouri; two loving uncles, Thomas A. (Taiwan) Shumpert, Jr. of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois and DeShaun Williams of Chicago, Illinois; and four devoted aunts, Brenda Webb of Gary, Indiana, Dajuana (Pinklon) Thomas of Orlando, Florida, Camelita Dotson of Nashville, Tennessee and Tina (Darrick) Powell of Merrillville, Indiana; and a host of cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, friends and the West Side High School Class of 2009. The Funeral Servies will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2307 Rhode Island St., Gary, Indiana, with Pastor Sieon Roberts officiating.
