Portland, Indiana, March 1. --- Catherine Schlechty died at 10 o'clock at her home two miles south of Boundary. She had been in poor health several months, but her condition was not considered alarming.
The deceased was born in Union City, Ohio, November 5, 1871, the daughter of Dennis and Jane Keilty Wallace and was united in marriage July 8, 1889 to Levi Schlechty, who died March 2, 1920.
Surviving are four daughters, Lulu, Mable and Mary Schlechty, at home and Mrs. Clarence Ankrom of Green twp.; two sons, Leo at home and Howard of Detroit, Mich.; three brothers, James and John Wallace of Noble township and Michael Wallace of Pike township; four sisters, Mrs. Pavey Bickel of Portland, Mrs. John Kennedy of Indianapolis; Mrs. Ray Shoemaker of Muncie and Mary Wallace of Portland.
The family has resided on a farm in Pike township for the past 45 years.
Mrs. Schlechty was a member of the Church of Immaculate Conception. The body was taken to the Baird funeral home for burial preparations. Arrangement will be completed today.
(The funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Portland Catholic church in charge of Father Frances McAuliffe. Burial was made in the Green Park cemetery.)
