The angel of death entered the home of C. Q. Cockerham, Sr., January 1, 1932, claiming as its victim J. C. Cockerham. Mr. Cockerham was born February 5, 1847 [sic 1848]. He was the father of twelve children, ten of whom survive him.

They are: J. D. Cockerham, Italy, Texas; W. S. Cockerham, Waxahatchie, Texas; J. Cockerham, Milford, Texas; S. G. Cockerham, Frost, Texas; J. M. Cockerham, Winnfield; C. Q. Cockerham, Dodson; Mrs. Nancy Box, Milford, Texas; Mrs. Mollie Coonce, Delhi; [Mrs. Mattie Boyett, Dodson] and Mrs. Katie Dean, Blooming Grove, Texas.

He was the grandfather of eighty-one grandchildren and eighty-five great grandchildren.

Mr. Cockerham was a member of the Baptist Church for a number of years and beloved by all who knew him. He was born and reared in Winn Parish. Interment was made in Cypress Creek Cemetery, the Rev. Hand, pastor, of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church, officiating.

The family wishes to take this means of thanking the many friends and neighbors for their kindness and help during the illness of their father.
