Jean Evelyn McCarley Arnold was born on September 5, 1928, to Lee McCarley and Laverne Dodson McCarley.

Jean slipped the bounds of earth on January 7, 2019, at the age of 90.

Jean was born and grew up in Florence, Texas until her junior year of high school when her family moved to Killeen, TX. There she met the love of her life, Wayne 'Pistol' Arnold. Together they heralded the Killeen High School Kangaroos with Pistol as a star football player and Jean as a cheerleader. Pistol gained a scholarship to A&M after graduating but could not leave Jean behind, therefore giving up his college career to marry Jean on February 25, 1948.

Jean and Wayne had three daughters, Janice Lee Pilgrim, Patricia 'Patti' Lynn Oliver and Tracy Jean Arnold.

In early years while the children were growing up, Jean dedicated herself to her family and her church. She loved being an at home mom but occasionally worked to meet family expenses.

Jean and Wayne spent the first 7 years of their marriage living all over Texas due to Wayne's job with TXDOT. Upon settling in Austin, TX in 1956 to allow Janice to be settled in public school, Jean and Wayne were dedicated to their church taking leadership roles, their family and their long time friends. Jean and Wayne's home was always open to their children's friends and many passed through as surrogate sons and daughters. One of these became particularly close to the whole family. Vicki Moffatt was adopted as a forth sister and she brought her husband, David as Jean's adopted 'Yankee son in law'. Vicki and David have graciously helped with Jean's care for many years and lived close in order to spend time with her and the family.

Jean attended Business School after High School which enabled her to move in and out of the business world as a secretary whenever she needed to work. She always longed to get her college degree but never found the opportunity. In 1965, Jean discovered the world of Real Estate in Austin. She became an expert sales agent and broker which continued for the rest of her career. When beginning her Real Estate career there were very few woman in Real Estate. In 1971, the family moved to Georgetown, TX to care for Jean's elderly parents. Jean was only the second woman in Williamson CO to become a Broker and own her own Real Estate business. After retiring from active sales at age 55, Jean became a consultant to many aspiring realtors simply because they respected her special knowledge and abilities. After retiring along with Wayne, they spent much of their time enjoying Western Swing events throughout Texas and other states. They also remained leaders in their church, enjoyed their growing family and their longtime friends. Throughout their life Jean and Wayne loved socializing with their long time and new friends by playing games, particularly 42. They also particularly enjoyed their 5 grandchildren that came along. Fortunately, until they were grown, all of the grandchildren remained in the Georgetown area which ensured a lot of love and interaction. Three great grandchildren have blessed Jeans life since 2006.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne and 3 sisters, Florene Skinner, Yvonne Helgrin, and Oma Lee Leschber.

Jean was a proud matriarch who is survived by her children and adopted daughter, Janice, Patti, Tracy and Vicki, sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, , Bruce Oliver, David Moffatt and Roberta Cummings, her grandchildren, Carley Pilgrim, Priscilla Schmidt, Jessica Cosenza, Calli Oliver and Arnold Benson Oliver, grandsons-in law and grand daughter-in-law, Wesley Schmidt, Peter Cosenza and Rachel Bills, three great grandchildren, Glenn Schmidt, Olivia Schmidt and Bella Cosenza with one additional great grandchild on the way.
