THE HUMESTON NEW ERA: WAYNE COUNTY, IOWA, NOVEMBER 16, 1904.
We take the following from a Kansas paper. Mr. Miller is a brother of Mrs. Mary "Miller" McVey of this place.
Another old soldier has been mustered out. Robert Miller. one of the Pioneer settlers of the county died at his home in Seward township last Sunday night. Mr. Miller's death, while expected by his friends, was indeed a shock to "the county. He was one of the most substantial and influential citizens: a man of sound business judgment, and whose life was an open book. We were proud to number "Uncle Bobbie" Miller among our friends.
Robert Miller was born January 06,1832 in the state of Indiana, Robert had been in poor health for years. In fact, ever since the war of the Rebellion when he was wounded. The remains were brought to St. John Tuesday afternoon and interred in the city cemetery. A large concourse of friends and relatives attended the funeral services. The death of Robert Miller is a great loss to the community in which he resided, and to the county in general.

The following was written by his brother-in-law Mr.Chadd.
