WILLIAM J. BASS DIES SUDDENLY

William Johnson Bass, 64, died of a heart attack at his home in Oglethorpe on Tuesday evening, Sept. 9, at 7:30 o'clock.

He was born in Lancaster, S. C. the son of Andrew and Mrs. Bass, and had lived in Oglethorpe for 2 years, coming here from Waldo, Fla. He was employed by Seaboard Coastline Railroad for 43 years, having retired six years ago.

Survivors include his wife, the former Claudia Streetman of Oglethorpe; one son, Major Andrew Johnson Bass, stationed in Germany; four daughters, Mrs. P. L. Thomas of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. M. M. Lord of Orlando, Fla, Mrs. Robert Lewis of Montezuma, Mrs. Allen Williams of Oglethorpe; Mother, Mrs. A. J. Bass of Helena; one brother, J. E. Bass of Helena; five grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral arranagements are incomplete at this time, pending the arrival of the son from Germany, but will be announced later by Smith-Tindol Funeral Service.
