My Grandmother had a zest for life and had a wonderful sense of humor. She always kept the children entertained even though they were doing some type of farm work. She had a way about her always seemed to know how to make a person feel good about themselves. She enjoyed all of the wildlife in her area having numerous wild animals as pets that were able to roam around free and come to her call. She taught herself taxidermy but only did that as a hobby. She also learned to play the piano at a very early age and was the first piano player at the Rankin Chapel Baptist church when it was founded.

One of her favorite things to do as she grew older was a wildflower garden which she tended in her front yard. She enjoyed going on her daily strolls and usually walking at least a mile or more even in her later years. She would always point out the wild plants, naming them and telling what each one was good for. Sometimes if she spotted a new flower she would tenderly take it home and add it to her flower bed. Everything seemed to thrive around her.
