She was known as Miriam Adams. She never used her first name of Bertha. I suppose she did not care for it. (GWA)

Obituary - Funeral services for Miriam Bertha Adams, 82, of Kirbyville were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The Revs. Robert Faulk and C. C. Ballard and Howard Ford officiated. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Causey's E. E. Stringer Funeral Home. She died at 11:30 a. m. in Green Acres Nursing Home in Center, after a long illness. She was a native of and had lived all her life in the Friendship community.

Surviving Mrs. Adams are three sons, Alton Adams of Kirbyville, J. W. Adams of Vidor, and Hubert Adams of San Diego, Texas; five daughters, Thelma Samford, Audie Green, and Margaret Andrews, all of Center, Geraldine Woods of Jasper, and Christene Yawn of Jacksonville; three brothers, Marvin Sheffield of Kirbyville, Bruce and Bob Sheffield, both of Roganville; two sisters, Ester Behannon and Lena Burnett, both of Roganville; 26 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
