NEW BOSTON RESIDENT LOSES LIFE IN FIRE
NEW BOSTON - Blaine Birkhead, 27, burned to death in a fire which destroyed his home in the North East part of New Boston early this morning.

Mrs. Birkhead said she was awaken by the fire and ran to a neighbors home about 4:20 when she was unable to awaken her husband.

New Boston Firemen were summoned and were unable to save the house.

Mr Birkhead, who was assistant manager of the Joy Propane Gas Co., was the grandson of Mr & Mrs Willaim Hayes of New Boston who had reared him.

He and his wife had returned home late last night after having been away during the evening.

Lorenzo Rausch, Mercer County Coroner, and Sheriff Joe Lemon investigated the blaze today. Early investigation failed to reveal the cause of the blaze.

"The couple" had no children. The body of Mr Birkhead was removed to the Olin Funeral Home in New Boston.

Blaine was tragically taken from us way to early in life. It was an unfair twist of fate that he was not able to share all the special moments in the lives of his loved ones. Many people have told me what a great guy Blaine was.....
