Obituary for Freda Lee Witt April 2003
SIMON -- Graveside service for former Wilson resident Freda Lee Witt, 83, Ardmore, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Simon Cemetery in Love County with Elder Hylton Crain officiating.
Born Aug. 31, 1919, in Iowa Park, Texas, to William C. and Ollie S. Tomlin Anderson, she died April 20, 2003, at an Ardmore health-care facility.
Raised in Zaneis, the former Freda Lee Anderson married Clyde H. Witt in 1935, in Love County, and they moved to Houston where she received her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician for many years. She then worked in Ardmore until she retired in the early 1960's. She returned to this area permanently in 1973 and was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 11, 1971; a grandson, James E. "Jimmy" Witt Jr. on Dec. 31, 1999; two brothers, twins, W.C. and W.D. Anderson; and five sisters, Cora Dodson, Ola June Purdue, Nettie Wood, Bessie Awtrey and Georgia Dimple Frazier.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Blankenship, and son, James Edward Witt, both of Ardmore; two brothers, William E. "Buddy" Anderson, Conroe, Texas, and Johnny M. Anderson, Corpus Christi, Texas; a granddaughter, Kim Witt, Pittsburg, Calif.; a grandson, Warren and his wife, Sheila Blankenship, Ardmore; two great-grandchildren, Scott and Jacci Blankenship, Ardmore.
Bearers will be E.L. Morton, Clyde Nipp, Joel Hodges, Roy Wharton, Sonny Culwell and Johnny L. Anderson.
