Mrs. Elizabeth S. Chambers, whose illness has been known to Observer readers for a week, died Sunday night at a quarter past 10 o'clock, at her home on southy Myers street. Deceased was 61 years of age. She was a native of Person county. After her marriage she lived at several places in the State, her last home before coming to Charlotte being Matthews. She moved here in the fall. Shortly after she had a spell of the grip, from which she never recovered, her death being directly attributed to that.

Mrs. Chambers was a life-long member of the Baptist church and was a godly, pious woman. She leaves six grown sons, five of whom were present at her death.

The funeral services will be conducted this morning at 10 o'clock at the residence, 301 South Myers street, by Dr. Pritchard, of Tryon Street Baptist church. Friends and acquaintances invited.
