Well-Known Business Man Succumbs to Violent Attack of Pneumonia After a Short Illness.
Announcement of the death of Mr. A. S. Hunt at 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning came as a great shock to his many friends in this city. It was not generally known that he came in off of the road Saturday and took his bed with a congestive chill. The fatal disease grew rapidly upon him and he had been in a desperate condition for five days, his physicians, however, not feeling any marked degree of anxiety about him because of his fine constitution and natural resistiveness.
Mr. Hunt was away from his home here a greater part of the time. He traveled for the Texas Oil Company, his work keeping him out of the city nearly every week. When here he was generally seen around the Southern Manufacturers' Club, of which he was a prominent member, being a member of the board of governors of that institution.
Mr. Hunt was prominent in social and club and business circles. He was well liked and esteemed by all who knew him intimately and made a large number of friends during the nine years of his residence here.
The deceased first represented in this section the Gutta Percha Paint Company, later accepting a position with the Foster Comb Winder Company as Southern representative. In October Mr. Hunt accepted a position with the Texas Oil Company and was making a fine success of this undertaking when death seized him.
Surviving the deceased are a wife and one 5-year-old son, several brothers and sisters who live in Buckland, Mass. He was a native of that State himself. His relatives are expected to arrive here today and until then the funeral arrangements are withheld.
