HASSENPFLUG FAMILY TO HOLD 23RD ANNUAL REUNION [from [email protected]]

On 6 Aug 2000, the HASSENPFLUG family will hold its 23rd annual family reunion from noon to 4:00 p.m., at the Mill Hollow Reservation (Shelter #2) of the Lorain County Metroparks near Vermilion, Ohio.

Michael Hassenpflug's son Johannes Heinrich Hassenpflug was born in 1800 at Oberaula, Hesse-Kassel, Germany, and died in 1888 in Brownhelm Twp., Lorain Co., Ohio. A farmer in Germany, he arrived in the U.S. on 1 Oct 1835 at Baltimore, Maryland, with his wife Anna Martha (Dute) Hassenpflug and children Anton, Catherine, and Elizabeth; the family settled first in Amherst Twp., and in 1845 removed to Brownhelm Twp.

Another son of Michael, Adam Heinrich Hassenpflug, was born 1808 in Germany, and died 1891 in Brownhelm Twp.; a baker in Germany, Adam arrived in the U.S. at New York aboard the ship "Washington" in May 1846, accompanied by wife Anna Catherine (Reising) Hassenpflug, and children Anna, George, Elizabeth, and Wilhelm. Michael's daughter Anna Elizabeth Hassenpflug was born in 1819 in Germany, and died 1891 at Brownhelm; accompanied by her husband, Nicholas Angersbach (born 1814), children Johann & Anna Elizabeth, and two nephews, they arrived in New York from Bremen, Ger., on the ship "Oldenburg" on 17 Jun 1853. All of these families settled in Brownhelm Twp.
