The death of Ben Garvin, son of W. J. Garvin, of near town, occurred shortly before midnight Monday night of this week, January 25, 1915, at the Wabash hospital in Moberly, where he had been confined for three months, on account of a severe attack of Appendicitis. At time he grew stronger, only to be again brought lower by an onslaughts of the attack. Last Thursday, when his brother, Dye Garvin, visited him, he seemed much better, and was planning to come home within the next few weeks, but the last of last week he suffered another relapse, and rapidly grew weaker till death ended his sufferings Monday night.
Ben Garvin was born on a farm about three miles north of Brunswick, July 31, 1890, and was 24 years, 5 months, and 2 days old. All his life was spent in this community, with the exception of the last four years, during which he has held a position with the Wabash railroad Company, at Moberly. He was a young man of high character, of kind and lovable nature, and made friends readily wherever he went. He had many friends here, and during the time he lived in Moberly he became popular among his fellow-employees and many others, and was regarded an one of that city's most worthy young men. In Moberly he lived with Mr. and Mrs. Padgett, who were very kind to him, and treated him as a member of their own family. They, with a number of other Moberly friends attended his funeral here Wednesday. He is survived by his father, four brothers, W. S. of St. Louis;G. D., C. D. and J. W. of Brunswick, and one sister, Miss Annie, also of this place.
The remains were shipped to Brunswick Tuesday evening, and funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon.
