Joe was the son of Jessie Archie and Mary "Collins" Campbell. He married Alma Katherine Rogers on Dec 25, 1941 in Grenada, MS. They were the parents of two children. They lived most of their married life in Greenwood, MS. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and fought under General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge and sustained a serious leg injury.
