Funeral services for B.F. "Bill" Tucker, age 85, of Hideaway, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, in the Hideaway Lake Community Church with Dr. Don Anderson and Bro. Jack Conley officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Jacksonville City Cemetery, in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors of Lindale.
Mr. Tucker was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Jacksonville, Texas, the son of the late Daniel and Cottie (Blackburn) Tucker. He died March 5, 2009, in a Tyler hospital. Mr. Tucker attended elementary and high school in Jacksonville and graduated from the California College of Commerce in Long Beach, Calif. He was employed by Magnolia Petroleum Co.-Mobil Oil Corporation for 28 years in various field offices in South Texas, North Texas, Kansas and South Louisiana. At the time of his retirement he was a supervisor in the financial analysis group of Mobil's Houston Exploration and Producing Division. He retired from Mobil in 1980 and moved to Hideaway. He was a member of the Mount Sylvan Masonic Lodge No. 764, Scottish Rite Temple of Dallas, Sharon Temple of Tyler, Sharon Shrine Golf Unit, Hideaway Lake Community Church, and a former member of the Hideaway Lake men's 9 hole and 18 hole golf units. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre Operations.
Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Tucker, and sister, Jean Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Tucker of Hideaway; son, Danny Tucker of Hideaway; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
