Mrs. A. C. Colton, for many years a well known and esteemed resident of Sycamore, passed from this life at her home with her son Fred Colton at Vermillion, S. D., yesterday morning, April 7. She was ill less than an hour. Heart disease was the cause of her death.

Mrs. Colton was a daughter of Ralph Wyman who settled in DeKalb county in 1837, the second year of the settlement of this county by the whites. Here she was born and grew to womanhood. Her husband was employed in the bank and was later a member of the firm of Syme & Colton, hardware dealers. He died many years ago at Beatrice, Neb., where they made their home for a number of years.

Mrs. Colton also leaves surviving two step-children, both, residents of Nebraska, and two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Knights of Sycamore and Mrs. Susie Watkins of Chicago.

The remains will arrive in Sycamore on Saturday, and the funeral services will be held at the home of deceased's sister Mrs. H. M. Knights on South Main street at an hour not yet announced.
