David Jonathan Boroff, age 65, of Allenton, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
David retired from General Motors in 2001 after service at SPO in Swartz Creek, and was Chief of Security at the GM Central Offices.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Bentley Wesleyan Church in Burton, with Pastor Roger VanDonkelaar officiating.
Burial will be held in the Kilway Family Cemetery in Cedar, Michigan.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 6 until 8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m.
He was born on April 30, 1943 in Piqua, Ohio to Chauncey and Sylvia (Black) Boroff. He graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1962.
He then joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam Conflict as a Forward Observer. He played football for the Marine Corps Devil Dogs.
After his discharge from the Marine Corps in 1966, he attended Owosso College.
He loved the out-of-doors particularly hunting and fishing.
He lived on a farm in Allenton, Michigan since 1983, moving from Mt. Clemens.
One of the highlights of his later years was a mission trip to Honduras, where he served the pastoral staff and did building improvement.
He served on the Board of Administration of Bentley Wesleyan Church, where he was a member.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Bonnie); two children, David W. (Kristina) Boroff of Emmett, MI, and Anne (Brian) Penn of Port Huron, MI; six grandchildren, Justin and Abigail Boroff of Emmet, Alexander, Victoria, Elaina, and Isaiah Penn of Port Huron, MI; a brother, Daniel of Covington, Ohio; sisters, Deloris Caven, Elizabeth Cantrell of Piqua, Ohio, and Naomi Nichols of Lima, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; two infant sisters; and sister, Margaret Pearce. He was dearly loved by all.
