Mr. Wilmer F. Acey, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Acey, formerly of Blakes, Mathews
County, Va., died at Catawba Sanitarium on June 4th. He was in his 25th year and
had been married only about eight months to Miss Louise A. Dugger of Lynchburg,
Va. Funeral services were held at the Park Place Methodist Church, Norfolk, and
interment was made in the Forest Lawn Cemetery on June 7th, Rev. Guy H. Newbury
officiating. Liberal floral offerings for the funeral were received, attesting
to his popularity.

The deceased was well known both in Norfolk and vicinity, and Mathews County. As
a traveling salesman for a well known wholesale firm of Norfolk, he came to know
many people and all who knew him were his friends. His ability as an amateur
ball player also won him hundreds of friends and admirers.

Mr. Acey was a member of the Massasoit Tribe of Red Men, of the Park Place
Methodist Church, of the Moore Bible class, of the Norfolk Epworth League Union,
and of the Es-Kay Club, all of Norfolk, and all of whom were represented at the
funeral services. He served in the Army during the recent war, and it was there
that he suffered an attack of "Flu" which it is believed resulted in his
contracting the disease which caused his death.

The death of Mr. Acey was unusually sad, due to his youth, his popularity and
the fact that he was only recently married. A year ago he was considered by all
who knew him as an unusually healthy and robust man, but later in the summer he
began to decline in health, and was taken to Catawba in December. It was thought
at the time that he had a good chance for recovery, but all efforts of the
attending physicians seemed fruitless, and he gradually grew weaker until the
end came on June 4th. His father, mother, wife, mother-in-law, oldest brother
and sister, were at his bedside at the time.

In addition to his parents and wife the deceased is survived by one sister,
Violet, and four brothers, Archie E., Basil B., Thomas Earl, and Randolph.
