Alexander was born in Scotland about 1805 and died in Hopedale, PEI, Canada. He had three daughters by his first wife, Marion (Sarah) Nicholson (1804-1848): Flora, Ann and Rachel; and two sons and one daughter by his second wife, Maira Mhor McLennan (1816-1910): Malcolm, William and Euphemia. Alexander is buried with his wife Sarah, and daughters Rachel and Ann, in Hartsville Presbyterian Cemetery, PEI. (PEIGS Cemetery Transcript Lot 22-2, #37.)
