The lovely life of Mrs. Etta Allen blossomed into its fullness when she was called to the mansion prepared for her by her Master late Monday afternoon, Nov. 9, 1959.
"Mrs. Etta," as she was affectionately called by all those who knew her, was born Nov. 8, 1879, and was 80 years and one day old at the time of her passing.
She was born near Seale in Robertson county and was the daughter of the late Rev. Aaron and Mary Frances Bridges, and lived her entire life in parts of Robertson county, her death occurring with less than one mile of her birthplace.
She was converted and joined the Baptist church at an early age and her entire life was characterized by Christ like virtues as humility, kindness and faithfulness to her Saviour, her family, and to everyone she knew or came in contact with.
She married D. J. Allen Dec. 24,1902, and to this union was born five sons, namely; Joseph and Wilbur Allen of Seale, Clinton of Marquez, Roy and Frank B. of Groesbeck. She is also survived by two brothers, Willis Bridges of Lovelady and Jim Bridges of Marques, and one sister, Miss Ruth Bridges of Seale and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Fayette Bridges of Teague. Several nephew and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends also survive her.
Her body laty in the state at her church home at Oletha from 2:00 o'clock until 3:00. During the prelude her niece, Mrs. Alma Kepling of Dallas rendered soft piano music of her favorite hymns. Miss Lucile Liles of Groesbeck directed a choir of favorite hymns.
The service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Olen E. Waldrip, pastor of the Oletha Baptist Church, who used Proverbs 31 as the scripture which eulogized the many virtues she possessed.
The floral offering symbolized the esteem in which she was held in the hearts of the donors.
Interment was in the Sansom Cemetery with Riddle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pall bearers were nephews, Curtis Drum, Mack Adams, Howard Bridges, Earl Bridges, Garlan Bridges and Terrell Bridges.
