Robert Glenn Leggett Sr. was the son of Glenn William Leggett and Hallie Fern Shannon. He was born in the home that his grandfather built. After graduating from Wapella High School in 1941, he enlisted into the US Army on Jan. 30, 1943 in Peoria, Peoria Co., IL. He served during WWII. Robert married Nellie Mae McMahan on Nov. 7, 1944 in Decatur, Macon Co., IL. She was the daughter of James Madison McMahan and Nellie Blanche Erwin. Robert and Nellie had three children: Robert Glenn Jr. "Bob", Donald Eugene "Don" and Charles Wayne "Chuck". Robert and Nellie farmed for many years in Kenny, DeWitt Co., IL. They retired in 1988 and settled in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL. They were members of the First Christian Church in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL. He loved the Chicago Cubs and the University of Illinois. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed very much.
