NAMPA — Vera P. Carter, 93, Nampa, former Rupert resident, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 1996, at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa.
She was born Nov. 16, 1902, in Wallsburg, Utah, the daughter of Elmer Leandor and Mary Isabell Wright Penrod. She attended school in Declo, and graduated from Rupert High School with the Class of 1924. She also attended Idaho State University.
She married Rule Verl Neilson June 14, 1925, in American Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved to Rupert, where she had since resided. Mr. Neilson died Dec. 27, 1959. She married Loren Carter July 14,1967. He died May 27,1981.
She was a member of the LDS Church and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are two daughters, La Von Beth Wenger of Memphis, Tenn., and Mike Atwell of Nampa; a son, Jerald R. Neilson of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Lyman Pernod of Wood Cross, Utah, and Elwood Penrod, also of Utah; two sisters, La Von Schreiber and Zella Paxton, both of Salt Lake City; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Verl Gene Neilson and LaVar Garth Neilson; one daughter, Moa Carol Cofield; and two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Rupert LDS West Stake Center, 36 S. 100 W., with Bishop Alan Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Rupert Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the services.
